The variety of online job resources available in Canada is
enormous. As the worldwide use of the Internet continues to grow, so
does the amount of proportionate information that it provides. In
Canada, however, online job searches should be supplemented with
more traditional methods. Some of the approaches include personal
contact with potential employers, distribution of hard-copy
résumés/CVs, using recruitment/staffing agencies, and networking
through industry associations or business community events.
Online Job Sites
AllStarJobs

(English)
AllStarJobs is an excellent, multi-level website offering the
jobseeker a huge amount of resources. It appears to be unique for
the sheer volume of information that is available to the user. The
jobseeker can choose to search jobs by province or city in addition
to the job bank for that city. Further links are provided to
individual employers and companies that have current openings,
employment agencies in the selected city, newspapers and other job
banks. The user has the choice to link to other national job banks
and resources and can also search by industry. A fee-based resume
posting service is available. Due to the extensive resources offered
by this website, it is a recommended starting point for any
searcher.
Job Bank
http://www.jobbank.gc.ca
Job Bank is maintained by Service Canada and is the
largest web-based network of job postings available to Canadians.
Job Bank has introduced a new feature
called Job Match that allows jobseekers to actively search for
employers who have job opportunities that match a specific skills
set.
This is just a sample of the job resources that you'll find in the
complete Canada guide.
