Excerpted from the China Career Guide
Obtaining employment in China
requires marketable skills, personal contacts, a strong command of a
Chinese language (usually Mandarin) and a bit of luck. Networking is
the most important part of the process, but the effectiveness of
networking in China is also correlated to the quality of one’s
credentials and command of the Chinese language. Because employers
rely heavily on referrals, especially for foreign candidates, it is
important to be introduced or to reach out to as many people as
possible and to “snowball” the contacts made by asking acquaintances
to make additional contacts. Chinese or Western contacts in China
prove to be highly advantageous when searching for employment.
Online Job Sites
Both employers and candidates rely
heavily on Internet websites as recruiting tools. Many of these
websites are available in both English and Chinese.
Zhaopin
http://english.zhaopin.com
One of China’s leading recruitment websites, Zhaopin was founded in
1997 by Alliance Consulting Ltd., the first foreign head hunting
company in Mainland China. Zhaopin, a bilingual job board, has a
vast amount of job information for Chinese and foreign companies and
jobseekers. This website also provides a professional résumé/CV
center, free of charge, to jobseekers. This website is an
easy-to-use source for career development, training and education,
and human resources professional information.
This is
just a sample of the job resources that you'll find in the complete China guide.
