Engineering and technical skills are
in high demand due to the growing numbers of international companies
locating manufacturing and production facilities and R&D centers in
China. In a recent Hudson survey of Chinese employers, 58 percent of
those in the manufacturing sector, a frequent employer of
engineering talent, reported plans to increase headcount. Jobs for
those with engineering, operations and technical skills ranked
second behind sales skills as the "hot job" categories.
Telecommunications companies have
begun a hiring spree, driven by explosive growth in the Chinese
market and increasing investments in both equipment and people by
telecom equipment manufacturers. Critical technologies (and desired
skill sets among jobseekers) include next generation network and
third generation telecommunications (3G).
