Excerpted from the India Career Guide
Although the Indian government
continues to be the largest employer of engineers in the
country, a legacy of the days when most Indian industry was
owned by the state, there are growing opportunities for foreign
engineers in other sectors. As Indian engineering firms begin to
expand globally, a niche for foreign engineers has developed in
the areas of biotechnology, nuclear resources, aeronautics,
automobiles, computers, semiconductor devices and fertilizers.
Unlike the tiger economies of
Southeast Asia, the Indian engineering industry is capable of
manufacturing the full range of industrial machinery and capital
goods. Among third world countries, India is a major exporter of
heavy and light engineering goods, producing a wide range of
items.
This is just a sample of what you will find in the complete India guide.
