Excerpted from the Italy Career Guide
Italians generally prefer doing business with people that they already know. Therefore, it is helpful for the foreign jobseeker to search out a strong contact who can introduce him/her into the working and business environment of interest. Prior to an interview, it is important to prepare by reading about the prospective company. Studying annual reports, as well as information on products, services, business strategies and other cultural values will prove most helpful. Questions and answers should be well thought out in advance.
Italian is the official language in Italy and it is also the preferred language for business. Although some companies will conduct business in English, Italians are proud of their language and do not feel that everyone must speak English. Therefore, it is important to have a good handle on the Italian language when doing business. Even if the attempt is clumsy, efforts at speaking the language will be appreciated; however, interpreters and translators are available and highly recommended.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Italy guide.
