Excerpted from the Korea Career Guide
Major differences still exist between a typical Korean company and those in the Western world. Confucian ethics such as respect for age, parents, teachers and employers are very important. Western influence is gradually entering Korea's business world; however, the change is slow. Many Korean companies still apply the seniority principle, or hierarchy according to age. Foreign-connected companies with Western management located in Korea generally fall somewhere in between the two philosophies.
The internet and search firms are gaining importance in finding jobs in Korea that were previously filled from within the networks of smaller Korean companies. Those seeking to work in Korea are encouraged to learn the language; however, many Koreans do speak English and business is often conducted in English.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete South Korea guide.
