In a recent survey of 140 information and communication technology (ICT) companies conducted by Abelia, an organization of ICT and knowledge industry employers, the majority of companies said their future outlook for the sector is positive. Sixty percent of companies with between 20 and 100 employees reported plans to increase their workforce, thanks to optimism that overall IT spending will increase. Among larger companies, however, the outlook remains relatively bleak, with 25 percent of employers saying that continued economic uncertainty might cause them to eliminate IT jobs. Even so, unemployment figures for the ITC sector consistently have registered in the 3.2 percent to 3.5 percent range, well below the levels experienced in neighboring countries and across Europe.
