Of the two Norwegian languages--Bokmål and Nynorsk--Bokmål is used by most of the population and is the major language for business. Expatriates should have a good grasp of this language to work in Norway. Most people working in international companies and governmental agencies speak English, but it should not be assumed that they understand everything being said. Therefore, written confirmation should be conducted for all business dealings.
Norwegians tend to keep business and personal relations separate, resulting in a reserved but pleasant business environment. There is little small talk in the office. Punctuality is important in establishing confidence and trust. Norwegians are very direct and get straight to the point. Although Norwegians engage in common social niceties, there is very little pomp and circumstance in business interactions. One may also find Norwegians much less homogenous than their reputation suggests.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Norway guide.
