AKAVA, founded in 1950, is one of the three independent trade unions
in the Finnish labor market. It represents Finnish professional and
managerial staff with university, professional or other high-level
education. Today, AKAVA has approximately 400,000 members working as
executives, consultants, managers or educators. AKAVA is concerned
not only with its members’ economic interests but also with lobbying
for societal reforms that will safeguard members’ status and
