Excerpted from the Germany Career Guide
The Germany economy is the strongest in
Europe and its recent economic boom is continuing. Unemployment
figures are falling, employment is rising and companies’ demands for
labor remain high. The rise in employment can be seen in all federal
states and almost all sectors. Small- to medium-sized companies are
making a considerable contribution to the country’s overall economy.
Germany is among the world's largest and
most technologically advanced producers of iron, steel, coal,
cement, chemicals, machinery, vehicles, machine tools, electronics,
food and beverages, shipbuilding and textiles. Manufacturing
accounts for a quarter of the GDP. Its major exports come from the
aircraft and automobile manufacturing industries, the chemicals
industry, electronics, computerization and advanced technology.
Germany's services sector is relatively underdeveloped compared to
other large economies, though new economy sectors such as IT and
biotechnology are growing quickly.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete
Germany guide.
