Excerpted from the Italy Career Guide
Italy is one of the least expensive countries in the European Union. Even though the Euro has made great gains in recent years against the US dollar, average prices in both Rome and Milan are still slightly lower than in New York, North America’s most expensive city, according to investment bank UBS.
Unfortunately, wages in Italy are lower than those in North America. In Milan, the average gross salary is 66 percent of the average gross salary in New York. In Rome, the average gross salary is 56 percent of the average gross salary in New York. Net wages in Milan and Rome are slightly higher relative to New York, measuring 71 percent and 59 percent, respectively.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Italy guide.
