25,000 manufacturing jobs were recently eliminated because of a decline in the value of the Euro, according to the Confederation of Norwegian Business and Industry. A survey by the trade group indicated that 25 percent of companies would move or outsource production because of current concerns, high wages and political uncertainties.
General uncertainty around the economy will create additional difficulty for engineering candidates directly out of university. However, experienced engineers remain in demand in a number of sectors, Electrical and electronics engineers are expected to enjoy the greatest demand and the market for engineers who have strong technical and communication skills is brisk.
