   :: Interviewing Advice

Excerpted from the South Africa Career Guide

In South Africa, punctuality is very important. Applicants should arrive five to 10 minutes before the interview. Being late creates a negative impression. If there is going to be a delay, it is important to call and keep the prospective employer advised. Reasons for the delay should be explained. If it is likely that the delay will last more than an hour, it is best to ask to reschedule the appointment at the interviewer's convenience.

It is customary to shake hands at the beginning and end of the interview, regardless of the participants' genders and ethnic groups. Address the interviewer as "Mr.," "Mrs." or "Ms." (Miss is not widely used) until invited to do otherwise.

This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete South Africa guide.
