More than nine out of 10 white-collar workers in
Taiwan would like to work for
a foreign enterprise, 1111 Job Bank Vice President Wu Juei-ying said Saturday,
citing the results of an online survey.
The online job bank released the results of
the poll on office workers' dream employers Saturday. The survey was conducted
April 10-30, with a total of 1,562 valid samples being collected. The survey
has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
Analyzing the results of the survey, Wu said
that "high salary, good benefits, and broad opportunities" are three of the
main reasons office workers in Taiwan want to work for foreign enterprises
based in the country.
According to the survey, 61 percent of the
respondents who said they want to work for a foreign company in Taiwan said
they believe they will have a better future working for such a firm.
Meanwhile, "good benefits" was mentioned by
58 percent of the office workers who said they want to work for a foreign
company, and "high wages" was mentioned by 51 percent.
The survey also showed that 47.5 percent of
the respondents said that they want to work for a U.S.-based company, while
23.7 percent said they want to work for a Japanese company.
Asked about their "dream employer," 20.4
percent of the respondents working in the technology sector said they want to
work for U.S.-based IBM Corp., while 19.93 percent mentioned
Japan-based Sony Corp., the
world's leading electronic appliances producer, and 13.93 percent said
Microsoft Corp.
Meanwhile, 32.3 percent of the white-collar
employees working in the financial sector said they would like to work for the
American Express Bank, 30.1 percent said Citibank, and 12.8 percent said HSBC.
Several other foreign companies, including
IKEA, Nike, the hypermarket chain operator Carrefour, the Yahoo! Group, and
Google, were mentioned by some respondents as their dream employer.
